TARRY CHIROPRACTIC

April 2026

What spinal exercises can I do to maintain a healthy lordotic curve?

For your neck (cervical lordotic curve), perform exercises focused on neck extension, strengthening the deep neck flexors, and stretching the chest and upper traps. Effective exercises include seated neck extension with a towel roll, chin tucks (retraction), supine retractions, and upper thoracic extensions. Remember, stop looking down at your phone! Phones up at eye level!

For your lower back (lumbar lordotic curve), focus on strengthening the core, glutes, and hamstrings while stretching the hip flexors and lower back. Key exercises include pelvic tilts, glute bridges, dead bugs, bird-dog, and planks. These movements reduce excessive anterior pelvic tilt and stabilize the spine.

Regular chiropractic adjustments, along with these strengthening exercises and stretching, postural awareness, and weight management, can help to reduce the pain caused by lordosis. Dr. Tarry can advise on which stretches can bring you the most relief.
